Sneha inspired by Vijayashanthi

Among actresses donning cop roles, Vijayashanthi was a cut above the rest. Her cop movies were hugely popular in the original Telugu and the dubbed Tamil versions – the classic example being Vijayanthi IPS titled Kartavyam in Telugu. It was also remade in Hindi where Vijayashanthi played the title role, Tejaswini.

Taking a leaf out of Vijayashanthi's book is Kollywood's smiling queen Sneha. Shedding her girl-next-door image, Sneha plays a tough police officer in Bhavani IPS directed by Kicha.
Much like Kartavyam, inspired by the deeds of Kiran Bedi IPS, Kicha said his script is based on a real-life incident where Kiran Bedi bravely stopped a politican's car coming in the wrong direction and ordering a crane to tow the car.

Kicha said he also relied on valuable inputs from retired police official Thilakavathy to give the movie a realistic flavour.

Sneha said it felt great to don a woman cop character made famous by an actress of the stature of Vijayashanthi. “The videos were a great help to know the effort put in by Vijayashanthi. If her body language was exemplary, the ease with which she carried off the stunts were great lessons in acting,” said Sneha, lavish in her praise.
