Hailed as one of the greatest actors in the Tamil film industry as well as in Indian cinema, Sivaji Ganesan (1 October 1928 – 21 July 2001) is called by his millions of fans as ‘Nadigar Thilagam’.

Having starred in nearly 300 films, Sivaji Ganesan, who was also the first Indian to be conferred the title of Chevalier had set the benchmark for acting for aspiring actors from future generations nearly five decades ago with his talents not being matched by anybody since then.

Meanwhile, the legendary actor has now been given a new honor by the Tamil Nadu state government.

The TN government has declared it will hold honorary celebrations every year starting this October 1 on the occasion of his birthday.
