Veteran singer S. Janaki undergoes surgery after injury - complete details here
One of the most beloved performers in south India, S. Janaki, who is popularly known as "The Nightingale of South India" is said to have sung over 40,000 songs in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Punjabi and Arabic, among other languages.
The reputed singer, who is known to be one of the most friendly personalities in south Indian cinema, S. Janaki had recently suffered an injury after she slipped and ended up hurting her hip during her visit to a relative’s marriage in Mysore.
Soon after, the 81-year-old S. Janaki was rushed to a nearby hospital where a surgery was performed on her after which she went on to get discharged on Saturday. Emerging out of the hospital in a wheelchair after her surgery, the acclaimed four-time National Award-winning singer interacted with the press and issued a statement saying she has been advised to walk using a stick while expressing her gratitude to the countless fans who prayed for her speedy recovery.
