The Jallikattu movement in Tamil Nadu has had support from all quarters. Actor Suriya who has been a supporter of removal of the ban on Jallikattu since the beginning came out in support of the youth movement recently.

Nikunj Sharma, Government Affairs Liaison with PETA India remarked, "It's no coincidence that Suriya decided to speak only when his film S3 is about to release. During illegal jallikattu events recently held, both bulls and humans have lost their lives. To use a cruel spectacle that routinely causes injuries and death, and which has been condemned as illegal by the highest court in our country for movie publicity is in extremely poor taste."

The actor has not taken lightly of this accusation and has sent a legal notice to PETA demanding an apology for the statement. In the notice Suriya's lawyer has said that Suriya has always supported Jallikattu and had said that at several occasions before. The notice demands that PETA tender an unconditional apology in writing and also release a copy of it to the media within a period of 7 days from the time of receiving the notice. If the same is not done Suriya will initiate appropriate legal proceedings his lawyer has said.

Suriya will be soon seen in S3, the third movie in the Singam series. The movie hits screens on January 26th.
