A massive project in the works now, 'Superstar' Rajinikanth’s next film, tentatively being called Thalaivar 165, will be helmed by Karthik Subbaraj and also likely begin production next month.

The film has already generated huge curiosity with its casting after the makers roped in 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi for a pivotal role.

To be produced under the Sun Pictures banner with music by Anirudh Ravichander, no release date has yet been announced for Thalaivar 165, but we can expect the film to hit screens sometime next year.

Meanwhile, there is now a talk across certain sections of the media stating actress Simran has been approached to play the female lead in the upcoming film.

Till date, Simran has not acted with Rajinikanth despite leading the league of heroines in the 90s after she became the darling of Tamil Nadu starring prominently in several hit films opposite Vijay and Ajith.

Fans will know Simran was the initial contender to play the female lead in Rajinikanth’s 2005 blockbuster, Chandramukhi, who opted out of the project as she was pregnant and was subsequently replaced by Jyothika.

It must be noted actress Trisha’s name was also in the fray to play the female lead in Thalaivar 165 a while back.
