Shreya Ghoshal wins yet another award

One of the most awarded playback singers in recent times, popular Bollywood playback singer Shreya Ghoshal has won the Kerala State Film Award for the best female playback singer for her foot-tapping number 'Chandhu Thottille' in Banaras.

"I never thought I would get an award for a Malayalam song. The language is not all that easy; I must thank Jayachadran Sir (music director of the song M. Jayachandran) for giving me such a lovely song and helping me do justice to it," Shreya said on hearing the award news.

Notably, 'Chandhu Thottille' is not Shreya's first song in Malayalam. She had earlier sung a song 'Vida Parayukayano' for the Mammootty starrer Big B, which was followed by 'Vennilave' in Sagar Alias Jacky and recently 'Anuraaga Vilochananayi' in Neelathamara.

Winning awards seems to come naturally for this talented youngster who has already won four National awards and three State awards for the best female playback singer. In a career spanning less than eight years, this 26-year-old singer has sung for over 140 films so far in Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam in addition to her mother tongue Bengali and won over 31 awards in all.
