Director Thirukumaran has come out with the secret behind the title of Maan Karate. The director reveals that Maan Karate used to be a code word often used in North Chennai. He added that the word was used by gundas to alert their closed ones, when someone was approaching them with weapons. He adds, that he came across this after doing some research in some magazine while reading an article written by a Police officer and wanted to name his film on it. He further added, he could not imagine anyone other than Sivakarthikeyan doing the lead in this film.
