She’s been part of five films that are part of the 100 crore club, which includes last year’s blockbuster Mersal.


Actor Samantha Akkineni will next be seen in the Vishal and Arjun starrer, Irumbu Thirai, said to be a cyber crime action thriller.


Samantha also has Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Super Deluxe in which she plays a character named Vaembu with 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi as a transgender.

She will also be seen in the Telugu period drama Rangasthalam as the character Rama Lakshmi opposite Ram Charan.

Her Seema Raja opposite Sivakarthikeyan too is nearing completion and has been announced for a Vinayagar Chathurthi release.


She is also part of the Savitri biopic, which is being made as Mahanati in Telugu and Nadigaiyar Thilagam in Tamil alongside Keerthy Suresh, Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey.


That said, it was announced a while back that Samantha would also be starring in the Tamil and Telugu remake of the smash Kannada hit film, U Turn, which had Shraddha Srinath in the lead role.


Production on the U Turn remake is said to have begun today on the outskirts of Chennai with filming also reportedly being planned next in Hyderabad. As for the plot, the Tamil-Telugu remake will also revolve around a flyover as a major plot point as in the Kannada original.


The U Turn remake will also mark the first time Samantha will be leading a film by essaying the role of a journalist opposite Rahul Ravindran as her boyfriend under Pawan Kumar’s direction.
