A highly debated topic a few months back among fans across social networking forums was the selfie controversy surrounding actor Sivakumar when he had pushed away the phone of a youngster who tried to get a photograph with the veteran star.

The incident went on to receive a massive negative response from fans, who cried foul at Sivakumar’s actions calling it too harsh. Eventually, the actor issued an apology and gifted the youngster with a brand new phone bringing the controversy to an end.

That said, a similar incident happened not long back at a marriage function when another individual brought up a phone to Sivakumar’s face, who pushed it away once again. Both these incidents led to a huge discussion including making the reputed actor a subject of trolling in the form of memes and videos.

Now, for the first time, Sivakumar’s younger son and actor Karthi has spoken up on the selfie controversy at the audio launch of the upcoming film, July Kaatril.

Speaking to the media, Karthi went on to state, “There is no respect nowadays while taking a selfie. No one is treated with due respect, nobody asks for permission before taking a photograph, mobile phones are brought in front of the face and in addition to all this, there are flashes coming out from the front and behind. If so many flashes keep coming out, what will a person with migraine be going through? I feel we have lost the culture to ask permission first and then take a photograph and, this makes me feel quite sad. This is the only way I can tell otherwise I won’t get the opportunity to convey my view.”
