On December 31, 'Superstar' Rajinikanth made an announcement his fans had been waiting for years to hear.

Rajinikanth finally announced his political entry sending his fans into an euphoric state.

Since then, the veteran actor has taken several steps to organize and strengthen his party rather quietly.

With key positions being allotted to his office bearers, there has been talk on when Rajinikanth would unveil the name of his political outfit as well as the party flag akin to actor Kamal Haasan, who unveiled the name of his party last month as Makkal Needhi Maiam.

In the midst of this, it was being speculated that Rajinikanth would be unveiling his political party’s name and the flag on April 14 on the occasion of Tamil New Year.

That being said, reports have now surfaced saying no such plans have been made by Rajinikanth or his office bearers at this point and that an official statement from the actor himself will be the answer to all queries regarding his political party.

On the film front, Rajinikanth’s next film, the action gangster drama, Kaala, under Pa. Ranjith’s direction has been announced to hit screens on April 27.

His long-awaited action sci-fi thriller, 2.0, directed by Shankar with an estimated budget of Rs. 400 crores is in its post-production stages with a release reportedly being planned for Diwali.

Last month also saw an announcement come from Sun Pictures that Rajinikanth would be teaming up with young acclaimed filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj for a film next tentatively being called Thalaivar 165.

One thing’s for sure - both Rajinikanth and his fans have their hands full in the year ahead.
