The first of the releases for Pongal 2019 came from ‘Thala’ Ajith’s Viswasam team not long back when the rural entertainer’s second look poster for this Siva directorial was launched by Sathya Jyothi Films. Also starring Nayanthara as the female lead and Telugu actor Jagapati Babu in an undisclosed role, the film also includes Vivek, Kovai Sarala, Yogi Babu, Robo Shankar, Thambi Ramaiah, Ramesh Thilak, Bose Venkat among others with music by D. Imman.
That said, there had been quite a lot of talk surrounding ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth’s Petta entering the Pongal race, which has now been officially confirmed by Sun Pictures and director Karthik Subbaraj. The film featuring music by Anirudh Ravichander also has Simran, ‘Makkal’ Selvan’ Vijay Sethupathi, Trisha, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Megha Akash, Sasikumar, Bobby Simha as part of its cast.
As of now, Ajith’s Viswasam is expected to hit screens on January 10 if we take into consideration the team’s Thursday sentiment while Rajinikanth’s Petta is said to be coming out the next day on+ January 11. Whether these are the dates now remains to be seen for which another official announcement from either of the makers can be expected to be made in the days ahead.
