As known already, Rajinikanth had on May 30 visited the families of the victims of the shootout at the Sterlite protests last week at Tuticorin. The actor had also donated Rs. 2 lakhs to the kith and kin of the deceased as well as Rs. 10000/- to all those injured after which he had met the press upon his return to Chennai.

It was at this press interaction when Rajinikanth had to face a barrage of serious questions which eventually led to the veteran actor to register his opinion as to how certain anti-social elements were responsible for the violence during the Sterlite protests.

Not only were his statements criticized by many, but the actor’s outburst at journalists didn’t go down well with many, which eventually led to Rajinikanth issuing an apology on Twitter.

Here’s the translation to Rajinikanth’s tweet: "The Chennai Press Club has pointed out as to how my speech at the Chennai Airport was in a threatening mode. I want to state my intention is not to hurt anybody and if any reporter felt hurt by my statement, I sincerely regret it."
