Rahman reworks CWG Anthem
Rahman's much-awaited theme song for the CWG 'Jiyo Utho Badho Jeeto' - was showered with criticism from every quarter when released. Even the CWG Committee was disappointed. Rahman was asked to rework on the track and he agreed to do so. The good news is that the tweaking and layering has been done and the new version is ready.
When the Committee asked him to rework on the song, Mehboob, who penned the words for the anthem, took the criticism to heart. He went all out to defend his work, saying it was an anthem, not some Bollywood song. He also made a point in telling everyone that Rahman's songs take time to be appreciated. Mehboob and Rahman worked on the anthem for almost six months before its first release.
To give the anthem a fresh perspective, Rahman has now added layers to it along with some folk instruments making it more peppy, short and tight. This time, a music video will also be released featuring some of the top Indian sports stars showcasing the achievements of India as a country. we sure hope the new version is appreciated.
