Legendary writer Kalki's Ponniyin Selvan novel is getting made into a 2D animation movie which is underproduction now. As per reports, this lengthy novel is being made to fit into 120 minutes of an animated movie. The director of this animation movie is M. Karthikeyan while editing is done by award winning senior editor B. Lenin. Produced by P. Saravanaraja of 5 Elements Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. in association with Valamaana Tamizhagam, the cost of the film is estimated to be Rs. 20 crores plus. As per the recent buzz, this big budget movie is expected to the beat box office records of Ramajmouli's magnum opus Baahubali.

Currently, character designing, background scene creation and screenplay discussions are progressing. The movie is expected to be a trendsetter in the animation genre, as the quality aimed at is equivalent to that of Disney movies. The movie is slated for a worldwide release in 2017.
