National award winning Malayalam director Hariharan is known for his movies like Pazhassi Raja, Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, Sargam, Parinayam, among others. This versatile director has created a niche for himself with his period films. Now after a long sabbatical Hariharan is all set to direct his next. The project will be a biopic on legenadary poet and critic Kunjan Nambiar.

Nambiar is known as the pioneer of popular humour genre Thullal in Kerala. Noted Malayalam poet and former Vice chancellor of Malayalam university, K Jayakumar will be writing its sceenplay and lyrics. The film will start rolling with in one year, said the director in a recent interview.

The biopic will unravel the multi-faced personality of Nambiar, who was a good fighter and social reformer too. The movie will be a grand project to be bankrolled by noted Malayalam producer who had produced historical biopics like Mammootty's Pazhassi Raja and Kayamkulam Kochunni starring Nivin Pauly. Ilayaraja has been roped in as in charge of music department and Oscar winning sound recordist Resool Pookutty will be in charge of sound recording, added Hariharan.
