Bigg Boss 3 kick started on 23rd June, with the introductions of the contestants, and the majority of them were known faces to the audience of both urban and rural areas. The first day began with the contestants swaying to the song "Ullala Ullala" from Rajinikanth's "Petta". Various contestants were cheered up by the song and following that, choreographer Sandy enacted like he was swimming inside the almost empty swimming pool. Due to the slippery floor, he hurt himself in the chin. Then, Vanitha Vijayakumar guides Mohan Vaithya in knowing where men and women's washroom. Later, Mohan Vaithya declares that he himself was about to get it clarified. Going back to Sandy's jaw injury, Kavin on facing the Bigg Boss camera, says that he'll be needing a doctor. Sandy addresses the camera and says that he would hurt others and check at least then if the Bigg Boss team would send in a doctor.
Furthermore, Bigg Boss gathers everyone and it is being announced that for the very first time in Bigg Boss Tamil, th amount of fuel and water consumed will be kept under the track with the help of meter. Bigg Boss also added that 1000 liters of water is provided for kitchen and drinking purposes, and per day a contestant shall consume only 100 liters. Also, it was informed that 5 kg cylinder has been provided which will be implied the next day. While a few of the contestants were clapping and welcoming the initiative, Fathima Babu stated that it is a pitiful state, and as a society we should be ashamed for having reached this situation. And Cheran on everyone else's behalf explained that the initiative was appreciated and the measures are taken at least now.
And, later in the morning the provisions were delivered to the contestants and Sandy returns after being treated with 4 stitches. In the afternoon Mohan Vaithiya is being called to the confession room by Bigg Boss and he is being provided with a letter which he reads out loud to the housemates. The letter states that it's time to choose the leader and the teams and that this time it will involve a new process of choosing them, unlike the previous 2 seasons. Each contestant will be picking a cue card and will be working based on the cards they pick. Later, Vanitha Vijayakumar picks up the Captain card, meaning she'll be the captain of the team for the current week.
Later, Vanitha is being congratulated by Bigg Boss and the Bathroom Cleaning team are discussing their work and splitting up their responsibilities. Following that, all are lunching together and a group of contestants like Kavin, Sandy, Saravanan and Losliya were enacting like they were reporting live about Sandy's injury. While a bunch of them were sleeping, they were woken up by the gunshots sounds through the speakers, another bunch of them were singing songs and entertaining themselves, followed by a game named "Chap Chali". Later on, with the contestants as the audience, Mohan Vaithya performs Bharathiyaar "Chinanjiru Kiliye" song.
Cut to the Bathroom team, where Kavin is shown singing "En veetu kuthuvilake" song from the movie Meyaadha Maan to which Sakshi and Sherin are dancing. In the evening, a game was played by the housemates wherein each person is being questioned by the rest of the team, which will test their patience and get them on their nerves. If the teammates are satisfactory with the answers, they would be welcomed as the part of the team. Following the game, the housemates are dining together for the dinner and going forward, Abhirami briefly talks about how she came to know about Kavin and also stated that she is crushing on him. Later, the episode ends with Abhirami discussing with Sakshi Agarwal and Sherin about how she would be proposing to Kavin.
