One of the biggest and most successful franchises in the history of Indian cinema, the two Baahubali films - Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion, have gone on to gross over 2000 crores in worldwide box office collections.

Starring Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati, Tamannaah, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj and Nasser, the Baahubali films were directed by SS Rajamouli under the Arka Media Works banner with the franchise going on to also win 5 National Awards.

With the second installment in the Baahubali franchise released in 2017, a new controversy has now surfaced as the makers of the films, Arka Media Works, have issued a legal notice to S. Rajarajan of K Productions stating he owes a sum of Rs. 17.60 crores towards the exploitation (distribution) rights of Baahubali: The Conclusion.

In their statement, Arka Media Works have stated that a criminal prosecution against S. Rajarajan has been initiated as the cheque he had issued had bounced with insufficient funds and is pending adjudication with a statutory notice under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
