Chinmayi has been an active participant in the MeToo controversy who never failed to raise her voice against industry big wigs and people who tried to misbehave with the fellow working women. She made allegations against veteran lyricist Vairamuthu and it became a huge controversy during the time of revelation.

Following the allegations made, she was banned from the dubbing union for a year which meant that she cannot lend her voice to any actors. Similarly, it has been quite a while since music composers recorded her voice for a song since her name was more or less associated with controversy. Chinmayi also revealed that she hadn't sung even a single song since October 2018.

Music director Govind Vasantha of 96 fame has made a big decision that he would make Chinmayi sing in his albums and added that no one else decides on behalf of him. Govind made it official with his tweet that has earned so much love and respect from the audience on social media. Govind tweeted, "@Chinmayi WILL sing in my films till SHE says NO to me. No one else will decide on behalf of me."

Chinmayi responded to this tweet with happy tears. Chinmayi had sung most of the songs in 96 and had also lent her voice for Trisha in the film. The friendship between Govind Vasantha and Chinmayi definitely stands high that is also equally heartwarming.
