A film that been mired in problems since the day it began production, the controversial Bollywood film, Padmaavat (formerly titled Padmavati) had been announced for a nationwide release on January 25 after it was postponed from its last year December 1 release date.


Padmaavat directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali under the Viacom 18 Motion Pictures banner and starring Shahid kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Aditi Rao Hydari in lead roles has a new problem as the film has now been banned in six states across the country.


The epic period drama film has now been banned in Haryana after Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij announced the news on his Twitter page.

Padmaavat, which has also been dubbed in Tamil and Telugu, has been entangled in problems for several months now after Rajput fringe groups raised objections citing the film's content.


Meanwhile, the makers of the film have announced that Padmaavat will be the first Indian film to have a global IMAX 3D release.
