Oliyum Oliyum audio launched

Oliyum Oliyum, the noble film produced by two NRIs – Rajiv Venkatraman and Sivakumar Balasubramaniam – under the banner of Dandini Creations witnessed an emotional audio launch recently. We call Oliyum Oliyum noble because it gives a chance to a differently-abled model (lacking the capability to speak or hear) to act as the leading actress and also because it brings to light the renowned social activist and philanthropist Palam Kalyanasundaram, who donated all his wealth to charity. The other attractions of this film are its director Shakthi Chellam, who directed Kiran Bedi in a documentary on national integrity, and Anand Babu, who stages a comeback after quite a long hiatus.

Kollywood’s famous director-screenwriter-actor K. Bhagyaraj, industrialist V.G.P. Santhosham, producer S.P. Muthuraman and writer Gandhi Kannadsan were the chief guests for the grand event. Oliyum Oliyum has six songs and Shakthi Chellam requested every chief guest to launch a song. He also announced that he had one more chief guest who would be arriving shortly to release the fifth and sixth songs. Heraised everyone’s curiosity to the limit when refused to reveal who the eminent guest was until he came on to the stage.

When the time came to launch the fifth song, the audience stood up in respect and cheered when a life-size photograph of former president Abdul Kalam was brought on the stage and the film’s audio CD was kept in front of it. Shakthi Chellam explained that since Abdul Kalam, who was supposed to launch the film’s audio, could not make it to the function due to more pressing commitments, he decided to adopt this unique method. Every member in the audience was stunned by his admiration for Abdul Kalam.

Forthose who thought this would be just another audio launch, this was a revelation. Their surprise only grew manifold when K. Bhagyaraj came on the dais. While talking about the film, he deeply appreciated the efforts of the producers and director togive the lead role toa differently-abled girl. When he announced that he too had given a similar opportunity to a differently-abled artist in Idhu Namma Aalu, the audience gave him a thunderous applause.
