As known already, the past few weeks in south Indian cinema and especially the Tamil film industry have not been the best of times. For a while now, tension has been on the rise between the Tamil Film Producers Council and the Digital Service Providers (DSP) with no new film releases across theatres in Tamil Nadu from March 1.

Although a similar strike was being carried out in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana and Kerala, the concerned states had withdrawn after talks with the DSPs turned out to be successful.

Meanwhile, it has now been announced that production and post-production works being carried out for all ongoing Tamil films need to be brought to an indefinite halt effective immediately until further notice.

The strike has been announced after the TFPC had announced that they were unwilling to accept the reduction in rates being offered by the DSPs.

In addition, TFPC President and Nadigar Sangam General Secretary Vishal has gone on to state that the strike is being supported by FEFSI.
