A film announcement that took literally everybody by surprise was when Sun Pictures made it official that 'Superstar' Rajinikanth would be working next with Karthik Subbaraj.

Earlier this week, reports popped up stating, acclaimed Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, a four-time winner of the Special Jury Award at the National Awards was being eyed for the role of the antagonist in the film tentatively being called Thalaivar 165.

Having said, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s team has now denied those reports to be untrue and nothing more than just mere rumors.

This now brings us back to 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi, another popular name in the Tamil film industry, whose name recently popped up for the role of the villain in Thalaivar 165.

As of now, apart from Rajinikanth, no other casting has been made in the film which will have music by Anirudh Ravichander.

It must be noted Vijay Sethupathi has starred in all the films of Karthik Subbaraj (he did a cameo in Jigarthanda) with the exception of the upcoming Mercury.

If Vijay Sethupathi indeed does go on to get cast in Thalaivar 165, it would without a shadow of a doubt be the biggest casting announcement of 2018.

Furthermore, actress Trisha has been reported to be the prime contender for the role of the female lead in the film.

Looks like we will have to wait for some more time for new casting announcements of the film, which is expected to flag off production around the middle of this year.
