An announcement that left film fans everywhere surprised was when 'Superstar' Rajinikanth signed up for a project to be directed by young acclaimed filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj under the Sun Pictures banner.


Pre-production work is said to be underway with Anirudh Ravichander announced to be composing music for the film tentatively being called Thalaivar 165.


With production expected to kick-off sometime around the middle of this year, there has been much debate on who would be playing the antagonist in the film opposite Rajinikanth.


Few days back, 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi’s name had popped up to be a contender for the role of Rajinikanth’s villain in Thalaivar 165


That being said, reports are now doing the rounds stating acclaimed Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been brought on board to play the villain.


A four-time winner of the Special Jury Award at the National Awards, an official confirmation is now awaited from the makers of Thalaivar 165 on Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s casting, who is known for his power-packed performances in films namely Gangs of Wasseypur, Talaash, The Lunchbox, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Manjhi - The Mountain Man, Raman Raghav 2.0, Raees, among many others. .


As for the female lead in the film, actress Trisha’s name has been linked in recent times to play Rajinikanth’s heroine. If casted, it would mark the first occasion she would be seen on the same screen alongside the 'Superstar'.
