Moonar music review

Fuelled by his passion for cinema, actor Ranjith is gearing up for his next.Moonar is produced by Thennaga Thiraikoodam and is written and directed by K. Thambidurai. Rahasiya is Ranjith’s pair and music is by ‘Vedham Pudhidu’ Ravi Devendran.

'Enniya Mudidhal Vendum’ is the first song in the Moonar album. S.P.B.’s voice comes as a whiff of fresh air and the song’s tune istruly melodious and soothing. There is not even a tinge of synthesized instrumental mixing anywhere in the song. The lyrics of ‘Konjam Poo’ make the first good impression. Sung by Karthik and Chinmayi, the song has a gentle touch to both its harmony and the styles of rendition. ‘Minminikku Thanchachi Naan’ in Reshmi’s exotic voice bubbles with an attractive energy so we end up tapping our feet to its dancing rhythm. The basic tune of ‘Pulikkuma Thuvarkuma’, a duet by Mano and Hema, rings a bell. Certainly, the tune is not new to Tamil film music. But composer Ravi Devendiran has indeed used an interesting combination of voices to create a refreshing image for the song. ‘Koncham Poo Koncham Then’ has a solo version sung by Chinmayi; this (last) song of the albumis certainly the topper too.

Ravi Devendran has indeed made a comeback to Tamil film music through Moonar.
