Meera as devadasi in Kannada

Meera Jasmine, the bubbly actress who is busy in all four South Indian language films, has began shooting for  Ijjodu, her latest Kannada film which shows her in the role of a devadasi. Ijjodu is being produced by Reliance Entertainment as part of their plan to foray into Kannada films. The director is the talented M.S. Sathyu who is famous for his offbeat movies. Anirudh, Srivatsa, Arundhati Jathakara and Nagkiran are also in the star cast. Shooting of the film has been started in Hassan district.

The film will have spot dubbing on the sets and Meera is a little apprehensive about it. . “This is a tough job for me. I have to mug up the lengthy dialogue and express them too,” she says. G.S. Bhasker is the man behind the camera and Nimai Ghosh, who was a still photographer with Satyajith Ray, is in the technical team.

Meera Jasmine started her career as an actress through the Malayalam film Soothradharan by Lohitadas in 2001. She played the role of a young girl trapped in the world of devadasis in the film. Later, she entered Tamil cinema through Run, in which she was paired with Madhavan. She forayed into Telugu with Ammayi Bagundi; Maurya with Puneet Rajkumar introduced her to Kannada audiences.
