The Malayalam film industry is on a record spree! After Mohanlal set new records with his films like Puli Murugan and Oozham, it is now Mammooty's turn to set his own record.

The actor has made some graceful films and the latest release, 'The Great Father' is a mix of action and sentiment. The film now holds the record for being the fastest movie to collect Rs. 20 crore in the Malayalam box office. It has been released around the globe and Mammooty took to Facebook to make the proud announcement.

"We are overwhelmed by the reception for the movie that was made with a mediocre budget of Rs. 6 crore and reaped Rs. 20 crore in such a short time. The film's directed by a debutant and shows how fast our industry is growing showing the size and power of Malayalam fans," he wrote on Facebook.

There are rumored talks that Pulimurugan's director will make Mega Star Mammootty's next film and it's expected to be another blockbuster hit as it was for Mohanlal.
