The prestigious Padma awardees list was released yesterday (25.01.2019) on account of India celebrating its 70th Republic Day today (26..0.2019). The highest civilian awards distinguished in three categories - Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri have now been announced with few prominent names from Indian cinema bagging the prestigious honors.

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, fondly referred as ‘Lalettan’, who is currently busy shooting with Suriya for Kaappaan, has been honoured with the Padma Bhushan award for his excellence in acting.


Choreographer turned actor Prabhu Deva has been conferred with the Padma Shri award for his extraordinary dancing skills. Recently, his choreography for the 'Rowdy Baby' song in the Dhanush and Sai Pallavi starrer Maari 2 attained the distinction of the first Tamil video song on YouTube to cross 100 million views.


Reputed singer Shankar Mahadevan too has been awarded with the Padma Shri and this will come as a huge delight after tasting a super positive response for his ‘Vettikattu’ song in Ajith’s Viswasam.

Anandan Sivamani, better known by his stage name 'Drums' Mani has also received the Padma Shri award. It must be noted he has scored the music for Vikram Prabhu’s Arima Nambi and Atharva's Kanithan in the past.

Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee, who was seen in Suriya’s Anjaan, has also received the Padma Shri as well.

Srivennela Seetharama Sastry, who penned the lyrics for the famous biopics, Savitri’s Mahanati and NTR, has also been chosen as a recipient for the Padma Shri.
