Mani Ratnam's Kadal, featuring debutantes Gautham Karthik and Thulasi in the lead roles, released to mixed reviews. Few weeks back, some distributors protested in front of the director's office, demanding compensation for the loss incurred. Director Lingusamy had distributed Kadal in three areas in Tamil Nadu, but he has made it clear that he would not ask for compensation.

In his press note, Lingusamy has said that he distributed Kadal in three areas and suffered losses, but will not knock at Mani Ratnam's door asking him for compensation. He added that film trade is like any other business, with profit and loss being a part of it. Lingusamy looks up to Mani Ratnam as a guru and respects him a lot as a filmmaker.

This is indeed a noble gesture from director-turned-producer Lingusamy.
