Ace director Mani Ratnam's next project Kadal, with Karthik's son Gautham and Samantha in lead roles, is progressing in a village near Thoothukudi. Sources close to the director reveal that the film will be an intense love on the lines of Romeo & Juliet. Kadal 's technical team comprises of Rajiv Menon (cinematography), A.R. Rahman (music), Sreekaran Prasad (editing) and Madras Talkies (producer). The star cast also has Arjun, Lakshmi Manchu, Pasupathy, Lal and Thambi Ramaiah.
There are also reports that the team is looking for a November release.
