One of the biggest blockbusters in Tamil cinema, Petta director Karthik Subbaraj’s action dramedy, Jigarthanda, released in 2014 went on to earn both commercial as well as critical acclaim. Everything fell in the right places for the film, which had solid performances by Siddharth, Lakshmi Menon including fetching Bobby Simha the National Award for Best Supporting Actor as well as the National Award for Best Editing for Vivek Harshan.
That said, sources close to us have now revealed Jigarthanda is all set to be remade in Telugu with Varun Tej portraying Siddharth’s role under Duvvada Jagannadham fame Harish Shankar’s direction. It must be noted the film is also getting remade in Hindi, which already has Sanjay Dutt reprising Bobby Simha’s role with Tamannaah and Kartik Aaryan’s names in contention for the roles of the lead pair.
