One of the most interesting films in the start of 2018 was National Award-winning filmmaker Bala’s Naachiyaar, starring Jyothika, G. V. Prakash Kumar and newcomer Ivana in lead roles.
With music by Ilaiyaraaja under the joint collaboration of B Studios and EON Studios banners, the action crime film went on to be lauded by critics and audiences alike.
Now, actress Ivana has been judged the Best Debutant Actress - Critics Choice for her performance in Naachiyaar with the award presented by actress Jyothika. Jyothika, while presenting the award, went on to address the crowd in her character’s style from her film, Kaatrin Mozhi, saying, "I'm always open to debut directors and ready to do the film if its promising as they are more bold and don't play safe”.
