When debutant director Sankalp Reddy thought of making a film, he didn't know that his maiden venture would gain a huge momentum. Sankalp claims that when he was returning from Annavaram temple in 2012, his train to Hyderabad got delayed and he had to stop by Vishakapattinam. There, he saw the massive submarine standing aloof. And when he went inside the submarine to take a loot, he was inspired to helm film with Indian Navy as the backdrop. That is when it struck him that the submarine should play a pivotal role in his film Ghazi.
