Sneha Nair is a well known face in Chennai social circles. If you like owning creations of Sabhyasaachi, Anamika, Shiva Naresh or similar brands, you would surely recall the glamorous launches they had in the South and Sneha Nair is the one who did it. When it comes to hosting classy events or being at the helm of all the highs of the fashion wave, this former Ms. Andhra has wowed all with her passion. Now with the upcoming Malayalam movie Luca, she is venturing into the world of Cinema as a co-producer. Here's what happened when we caught up with the fashionista herself.

Tell us a little about Luca...

Luca is a very intense love story. There is also a bit of suspense to it. I think the movie is thrilling and it is a must watch, especially for its suspense-loaded climax. The director is new and the whole team is very young. The cinematographer and the others just finished their courses and came out. I think they approached Tovino and he put them across to the producers who had co-produced Oru Mexican Aparatha. We took it on from there. Though Luca was announced first, we began working on another project called Jallianwala Bagh. That movie is all about college campuses. It went on floors first and it took us nearly 8 months to complete. After completing that we started Luca. Now, Luca is complete and Jallianwala Bagh is also waiting for release and will follow Luca.

How did you get associated with the movie?

I got associated as the whole team of Luca is very much like family to me. Right from the stars to the co-producers and executive producers, they are all my family. After being associated with this movie, I came to realize that working with a young team like this is very hassle-free. The discussions happened and then the movie took off and shooting happened without any break. We completed the entire project in a single schedule of 45 days. The director and his team went about their work diligently and now the movie is ready for release on June 28th. We are all very excited for it!

What are the highlights of Luca? What gave you the confidence that this subject would work out well?

I would say Tovino is the main highlight of the movie. He has done a wonderful job and is known by everybody, he's a natural. He is a brilliant actor and his work so far stands testimony to this fact. The graphics in Luca, are to die for. The entire team, despite being first timers, have done a brilliant job. It is always the captain of the ship who takes charge of everything and here too, the director has taken complete ownership and come out with a perfect movie. We were very confident about the director and he has delivered. As producers, we did not interfere in any part of the film-making process. We left it to the director to handle everything. He had a free hand and him along with his team have given their all. So all the credit should go to the director.

How has the movie shaped up?

The response we have been getting is tremendous. We released the trailer a couple of days back on YouTube and it has been trending since then. News about the movie have also been trending for over a week now. Marketing the movie was not much of a hassle as having Tovino in the lead was a huge plus for us. Credit also goes to our executive producer, who is very well connected. We are very confident that Luca would turn out to be a successful venture. Now, after completing it and watching the final output, we're all the more sure about its success.

Are there any plans to release Luca in Tamil?

We are planning to do it. We are releasing it in Malayalam first. Tovina is a recognized face in Tamil Nadu also and he has quite a lot of fans here. So, definitely yes; I think it would be a good idea to release the movie in Tamil too. Also, I am hoping to have a preview show in Chennai for all my friends as this is my first foray into tinsel town. I've always been into fashion and all things related to fashion but have never tried something like this. I would love for my friends to watch Luca and give their opinion.

On a cheerful note, the vibrant Sneha Nair adds, "I'm very happy being associated with Luca and it was a wonderful experience!"

"Cinema is not easy. I've always thought it to be easy: It is easy to go watch in theatres for 3 hours and then we come out and criticize. But the sleepless nights the directors and producers have had over it... That is something I am comprehending only now! Hopefully, by this time next Friday, we should be celebrating the success of Luca," signs off Sneha!
