The thrilling 12th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) started on a roaring note after the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) with 7 wickets. That said, CSK fans were both amused and sad that the first match didn’t get as interesting as they had hoped for as the target for the first match was just 71 runs. As the hype grew, what caught everyone’s attention was the match between the Kings XI Punjab and the Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur.

What came as a shocker for cricket lovers was when Jos Buttler was "Mankaded" by the KXIP captain and bowler Ashwin Ravichander. The big debate since then has been centered around whether what Ashwin did was right or wrong among all cricket fans and cricketers.

First, as per the rules of Cricket and according to Law 41.16., if the non-striker is out of his ground from the moment the ball comes into play to the instant when the bowler would normally have been expected to release the ball, the bowler is permitted to attempt to run him out.

Here, the ball comes into play when the bowler is in his/her run up. As per the rules, Ashwin was technically correct, but his action is condemned ethically by fellow cricketers and common public.

The latest personality from the Tamil film industry to now tweet about the controversy is director Rathna Kumar of Meyaadha Maan fame and has stated as follows, “ Mandira Bedi, Cheer Girls, SRK, Preity Zinta னு கவனம் ஈர்த்த IPL க்கு கூட இப்ப Negative Publicity தேவைப்படுது. Well done @ashwinravi99.”
