In a filmmaking career spanning over a decade, director Vishnuvardhan tasted a massive success unlike any when he remade Billa with 'Thala' Ajith in 2007.

He followed it up once again in 2013 with the smash success, Arrambam.

Apart from these two big films, Vishnuvardhan has delivered hits also in the form of Arinthum Ariyamalum (2005) and Pattiyal (2006).

Meanwhile, there were reports a while back stating he would once again be teaming up with Ajith for a film, which would primarily be set in historical times of the Cholas.

That being said, it has now been officially confirmed that Vishnuvardhan’s next will not be with Ajith, but in Bollywood and will star actor Sidharth Malhotra in a film to be based on the true story of Kargil war hero, Vikram Batra, who went on to be called 'Sher Shah' and passed away at age 24 in 1999 during the Kargil War.

The project was officially announced by Karan Johar on Twitter, who will be producing it under his Dharma Productions banner.
