A film that has been in the making for quite some time, National Award-winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran’s Vada Chennai wrapped up filming a couple of weeks back.

Jointly produced under the Lyca Productions, Vetrimaaran’s Grass Root Film Company and Wunderbar Films banners with music by Santhosh Narayanan, Vada Chennai will be Dhanush’s reunion with Vetrimaaran after their blockbuster, Polladhavan in 2007 and Aadukalam in 2010.

We had also reported few days back that Vetrimaaran and Dhanush could be contemplating the first installment of Vada Chennai for a Ramzan release on June 14 and it looks like those plans are indeed on track as per latest reports.

It must be noted Dhanush had also last week announced the first look of Vada Chennai would be unveiled tomorrow (08.03.2018).

With post-production underway in full swing right now, it has now been revealed that Dhanush is playing a character named Anbu, a national level carrom player, whose aim is to become world champion in the indoor game.

Aishwarya Rajesh is said to be playing a character named Padma and this is yet another big film she has lined up this year after Vikram’s Dhruva Natchathiram and Mani Ratnam’s multi-starrer, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam.

Named Chandra in the film, Andrea Jeremiah’s role has been kept under wraps and we expect more details to be known in the days ahead.

Filmmakers Samuthirakani’s character is Guna while Ameer Sultan is named Rajan in the film, which also has Kishore, Karunas and Daniel Annie Pope in vital supporting roles.

Vada Chennai as known to all by now will come out as a trilogy and narrate the tale of these characters starting in the 1970s over a time period of 35 years.

Composer Santhosh Narayanan too has had his hands full with the film’s score, which also includes 4 songs and an original gaana song.

Expectations for Vada Chennai have been quite ever since production began rolling three years back and we will get to see the output finally when the film comes out this Ramzan.
