As known already, the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) had announced for a strike starting tomorrow (March 16) that called for all film shootings, post-production works and, press meets and events to be stopped until further notice owing to the exorbitant rates being charged by Digital Service Providers (DSPs) like QUBE and UFO.

Meanwhile, a meeting is said to have taken place yesterday between the Chennai City Theatre Owners and Tamil Nadu Multiplex Theatre Owners, which was reportedly attended by over 100 theatre owners.

Post the meeting, the Chennai Theatre Owners Association President, Abirami Ramanathan, addressed the press and issued an official statement on their stance to the issue.

Their statement read as follows:

"We are not going to close our theatres and are not going to support the strike starting from March 16. We also do not plan to take part in the strike. There will be no changes in films being screened as all Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam movies will be shown."
