G.V.Prakash's musical drama film, Sarvam Thaaala Mayam, marked the directorial return of Rajiv Menon after a long gap of 18 years. The film received a positive response from the fans and critics for the writing and strong performances. Kollywood audience was eagerly waiting to know the director's next big film. A certain section of media reported that Rajiv Menon's next directorial will be with Mirchi Shiva under the production of VTV Ganesh. It was also said that the film's shooting has already started in Japan.

However, Rajiv Menon has clarified on his Instagram page that he is only the cinematographer of this project and not the director. When a follower asked Rajiv about the project, he said, "a Tamil film where I am the DOP." Rajiv Menon's last project as a cinematographer was Mani Ratnam's Kadal, which came out in 2013. When we checked with our sources, we were informed that this project is directed by S.P.Hosimin of February 14 and Aayiram Vilakku fame.

Hosimin is a former associate of director Shankar who is back to the work after a brief hiatus. It looks like his comeback is happening in the form of an interesting biggie. The shooting of this untitled project is progressing now at Toyama, Japan amidst freezing cold and rain.
