Sports films as a genre have rather been successful world over and in Tamil cinema too over the years. Likewise, Boxing has been showcased quite a lot in films starting with Badri starring ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay, Perazhagan featuring Suriya, Maan Karate with Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, Irudhi Suttru starring Madhavan to name a few. Now, Arun Vijay, who celebrates his birthday today (November 19), has joined the league in a film titled Boxer to be directed by Vivek under V. Mathiyalagan’s Etcetera Entertainment banner with music by Leon James.

Despite the title of the film being Boxer, the announcement poster shows an octagonal ring akin to the ones usually seen in mixed martial arts. Arun Vijay is in high spirits post the tremendous success of Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, which saw him share screen space alongside STR, Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swami, Prakash Raj, Jyothika, Aishwarya Rajesh, Aditi Rao Hydari among others under Mani Ratnam’s direction.
