A film that remains one of the highest-grossing films in 'Thalapathy' Vijay’s career, the 2016 action blockbuster, Theri, went on to prove once again the actor’s massive star power.

Atlee’s second directorial before last year’s Mersal again with Vijay, the film produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu’s V Creations saw GV Prakash Kumar deliver a rocking chartbuster album.

Theri featured Samantha Akkineni as the female lead with her role being lapped up all sections of the fans.

Although Amy Jackson played the second female lead, her role too had a positive impact on the progression of Theri’s plot.

Baby Nainika, who played Vijay’s daughter, was perhaps the most loved character in the film.

Meanwhile, it has now been confirmed that a Telugu remake of Theri is indeed in the works and will be produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the makers behind the recently-released Ram Charan-Samantha period film, Rangasthalam with Telugu star Ravi Teja in Vijay's role under the direction of Santhosh Srinivas, the man behind films namely Kandireega, Rabhasa and Hyper.

Actress Catherine Tresa is also said to have been confirmed to play Amy Jackson’s role in the film with the rest of the casting yet to be decided.

It is believed production on the Theri remake will flag off once Ravi Teja wraps up filming on his ongoing film, Amar Akbar Anthony under Srinu Vaitla’s direction.

It must be noted Theri was dubbed into Telugu as Policeodu, but didn’t quite hit the big numbers as its Tamil version.
