AR Rahman's live concerts need no advertisements really. Every concert however is announced by one of our favourite stars - last time, there was an announcement video by Siva Karthikeyan. This time around, actor Vikram Prabhu launched a special promotional video for the upcoming Rahman concert during the trailer launch of his upcoming movie, Asuraguru. Soon after the news came out on the social media, music enthusiasts began seeking tickets, trying to figure out which portals are selling tickets to the event online. The concert is set to happen on August 10 at the YMCA grounds in Nandanam. The event is produced by JSB Sathish:

Tickets to Rahman concerts sell off at record speed usually and even though the number of concerts Rahman does in a year has increased in the last couple of years, it is still a popular event. Rahman's concerts are known for featuring his students alongside famous singers who come back to render old numbers that they had sung for the music maestro. Medleys and jamming, reminiscent of the mash-ups featured in programmes like MTV Unplugged and Coke Studio, are also crowd-pullers. Rahman fans are also hyped for the music icon's upcoming movie 99 Songs, which he has co-written and produced. Needless to say, Rahman has also composed the music for 99 Songs.

Asuraguru, a crime thriller directed by Rajdheep, went to the floor around last year and is a crime story shot mostly around Chennai and Udumalpet. The music of the movie, which from the trailer closely follows the track-tone of Dhoom, is by Ganesh Raghavendra of the Renigunta fame. Alongside Vikram Prabhu, you will also see Mahima Nambiar (whom we saw in Dinesh starrer Annanukku Jai), Urvasi, Manobala, Yogi Babu in significant roles. Vikram Prabhu also features in the upcoming crime thriller, Walter, directed by U. Anbarasan.
