Angadi Theru: Music review

Angadi Theru features Anjali and newcomer Mahesh in lead roles. Much like director Vasanthbalan’s first film Veyyil, Angadi Theru will also be a poetic portrayal. After a long gap in Kollywood history, new-age music composers Vijay Antony and G.V. Prakash have combined tocompose music for the film.

‘Kadhaigal Pesum’ the first sog by Beny Dayal and Hansika is a bubbling pot pourri of emotions, music and rhythm. Usually, the heroines and their beauty is praised so much in film song lyrics. But the lyrics of ‘Aval Appadi Onrum Azhagillai’ sung by Vinith Srinivas and Janaki Iyer do not belong to this stereotype anddescribes the lover's actual feelings of his lover's beauty. ‘Kannil Theriyum Kaalam’ is a solo by composer G.V. Prakash. Prakash’s style of singing andvoiceare similar to his Oscar-wining uncle A.R. Rahman. Benny Dayal, Janaki Iyer and M.K. Balaji jointly render the sad song ‘Yenge Poveno’. ‘Karungaali Naaye’ is a light-hearted, song-like verbal exchange between two estranged villagers. Nellai Boys and Karthik bring out the authentic touch in thid rural special. ‘Un Perai Sollum’ isa sweet chorus in Naresh Iyer, Haricharana and Shreya Goshal’s experienced voices.

Vijay Antony and G.V. Prakash haveshed their individual styles andcreated a pleasing fusion for Angadi Theru.
