A couple of months back, we had reported actor Ajith had been appointed as the Helicopter Test Pilot and UAV System Adviser by the Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) to launch advanced Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) as part of the Medical Express-2018 UAV Challenge competition.

With the final round to take place in September in Queensland, Australia, the team Daksha, for which Ajith has been acting as a consultant has now reportedly emerged as the winner at the Medical Express-2018 Challenge.

The unmanned drone that the Daksha team had built has reportedly created several records including flying non-stop for 6 hours and 7 minutes.

As reported earlier, this drone can be operated using software instead of remote control, which in turn allows for accurate maneuvering and navigation.

In comparison to conventional drones, the team Daksha-built drone converts petrol as a source of energy thereby allowing it to fly for a longer time.

Furthermore, it is said this drone by team Daksha is being planned to be used as an air ambulance to transport medical samples.
