The past two years in Indian cinema has seen a number of biopics being made on reputed personalities with films namely M. S. Dhoni - The Untold Story, Sachin - A Billion Dreams, Dangal and the recent Padman.
In that line, the Savitri biopic being made in Telugu as Mahanati and Nadigaiyar Thilagam in Tamil with Keerthy Suresh, Samantha, Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey will be hitting screens later this year.
For a while now, there had been a talk surrounding a biopic on adult star Shakeela and it looks like the project is indeed moving forward.
To be directed by Indrajith Lankesh, the Shakeela biopic will star acclaimed Bollywood actress Richa Chadha and the film will reportedly narrate the tale of the adult star from when she entered the film industry at the age of 16 and follow her journey from thereon.
Richa Chadha has created a repertoire for herself as a talent powerhouse delivering praiseworthy performances in films namely Gangs of Wasseypur franchise, Fukrey, Masaan, Sarbjit among few others.
Planned for a 2019 release, the Shakeela biopic will reportedly flag off production in April and showcase the life of the adult film star's rise to superstardom.
