Director Shankar’s grand vision 2.0 has finally been realized in reality as the film will be out on November 29 with Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in the lead roles under the Lyca Productions banner with music by A. R. Rahman.

Superstar Rajinikanth in 2.0

With the 2.0 trailer launched, Shankar spoke about the efforts that went into the making of the film, which is as follows:

“While watching 2.0, you will get to watch Rajinikanth as Vaseegaran, Chitti, a giant Chitti in addition to many more surprises. I chose to go with the title 2.0 instead of Enthiran 2 as this is a universal film considering the theme is universal.”

On being queried what the Fifth Force is, Shankar stated, “We all know there is gravitational force, electromagnetic force. There is a negative energy that scientists have been trying to identify with no answers up until now and research is still ongoing. We have tried to deal with such a theme in this film.”

As for plans for a threequel film, 3.0, Shankar said, “There are a few small ideas at this point. Only time will tell whether such a film will happen. Let’s wait and see”.

Rajinikanth in 2.0

On his collaboration with Lyca Productions, the ace filmmaker added, “If it weren’t for Lyca, there would not be a 2.0. To me, Rajini sir is the biggest positive force in the film. His health was not up to the mark when we began filming. Despite such strenuous circumstances, he stepped forward and didn’t want others to wait. Such commitment only took the film forward and makes me firmly believe this to be the reason for him to be called the ‘Superstar’.

Regarding his partnership with A. R. Rahman, Shankar said, “He began work on the background score only 6 months back and kept working on it without a break. There are several moments in the film where his BGMs will stand out."
