One of the biggest and most expensive films in Asia, ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth’s 2.0 directed by Shankar finally released yesterday (November 29) to massive expectations. Produced by Lyca Productions at a budget of over 500 crores, the sci-fi action thriller also stars Akshay Kumar as the antagonist followed by Amy Jackson as the female lead with rocking music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman.
With 2.0 released yesterday, there are now reports doing the rounds suggesting the day 1 Australia gross for this latest Rajinikanth starrer stands at A$116,000 and is fifth from Sarkar, which has approximately grossed around A$215,000. Mahesh Babu’s Bharat Ane Nenu follows ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s film at the second place with A$169,000 with Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam standing at A$168,000 and the Tamil version of Baahubali 2 at the fourth place for south Indian films with A$160,000K.
2.0 is expected to soar in the days ahead considering the response to the film predominantly quite positive with laurels being showered for the technical finesse as well as top-notch performances of Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar including Shankar’s direction.
