Rajinikanth’s fans have an amazing year ahead as their 'Thalaivar' will be seen in two of the most anticipated films in Tamil cinema history - Shankar’s 2.0 and Pa. Ranjith’s Kaala.

Rajinikanth appearing in two films in a single year hasn’t happened in nearly twenty three years since 1995 when he starred in the blockbusters Baasha and Muthu.

The first of Rajini’s releases, 2.0 scheduled to come out in April produced by Lyca Productions also stars Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in vital roles along with music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman.

Latest reports regarding 2.0 indicate the film’s Kerala theatrical rights has been snapped by August Cinemas for a whopping Rs. 16 crores on a Minimum Guarantee (MG) basis.

Such a deal could make it the highest paid price for a non-Malayalam film in Kerala, which would once again go on to prove the level of popularity the 'Superstar' enjoys in other states and the height of expectations the film has set up so far.
