Veeram Movie review
Thala Ajith had a rocking 2013 with Arrambam and now he is all set to begin 2014 with Veeram and continue his success run! Directed by Siruthai Siva, this is a production from the prestigious Vijaya Productions!
Vinayagam (Ajith) and his four brothers Vidharth, Bala, Munish and Suhail Chandok, are the enforcers of their village. They have a unique way of dealing with wrongdoers. They first feast them to a sumptuous meal and then break their bones. When asked why they follow this style, their unanimous answer is that the baddies need the strength to bear the brunt of their anger. Vinayagam is not interested in marriage as he feels that he will be forced to change after marriage, as will the girl and that he doesn't want it. The big bad guy of the village is Pradeep Rawat, who is the prime target of the enforcers. However, the crude ways of Vinayagam and his brothers often land them on the wrong side of justice and it is upto advocate Perumal (Santhanam) to bail them out of these tough corners. Kopperundevi (Tamannaah) is a painter of religious idols, who restores the beauty of temple idols. Vinayagam's brothers seek her out and bring her to renovate a temple near their house. But why?
After seeing a special incident, the ever resolute Vinayagam is taken in by Kopperundevi's consideration and begins falling for her. However, her father Nassar is a Gandhian by principle and abhors violence to the core. Will he accept the vigilante Vinayagam as his son-in-law? Meanwhile, what does Pradeep Rawat have planned to take down the 5 brothers who continually poke their noses into his matters? Will Nassar ever give his daughter's hand in marriage to a man who settles things by violence? What does Thambi Ramaiah do to make things take a turn? What does the arrival of a lot of mercenaries indicate? Who are the killers actually after? What all does Vinayagam have to endure to ensure that his name does not get tarnished? Catch Veeram on the big screens to know!
Thala Ajith has gone back to a movie with a rural backdrop after quite a while and has blended into the role perfectly. The four brothers were selected with extreme care and they have all performed excellently... Vidharth and Bala show their class, while Munish and Suhail show that they are here to compete in the big league! Tamannaah returns to Kollywood after 3 long years, but shows that she has not lost her touch here. Director Siva shows that his Siruthai was not a fluke and that he has it in him to score big! A simple tale woven splendidly around the characters and the amazing casting ensures that it holds centre stage throughout the duration of its screening! Devi Sri Prasad's music did not top the charts on release, but is making it slowly and steadily towards the top. The songs tend to grow on you as the movie progresses.
Kasi Vishwanathan's editing needs a special mention. Thala Ajith is his natural self and essays the role of a good natured elder brother with elegance. The four younger brothers fit the bill. Tamannaah is visually pleasing. Santhanam in the first half and Thambi Ramaiah in the second half ensure that the movie has no lack of laughs. The combo of Ajith and Santhanam rock the rafters. Though the speed of the proceedings could have picked up, the mere presence of Ajith keeps the viewers on their feet! The array of talented stars ensure that even the fringe roles are not left wanting. The punch dialogues evoke the fans joy and the whistles just keep coming.
All in all, this is an amazing start to the new year 2014 for Ajith, and it is indeed a Thala pongal for all his fans!
