Vasool Movie review
Director Rishiraj has chosen a very fresh theme for his debut Vasool. The movie attempts to explain the problems and uncertainties involved in an ordinary individual's affair with a fledgling actress.
Auditor Jeeva (Hemanth Kumar), who takes care of actress Kiron's finances, is attracted by her beauty and appeal and soon falls in love with her. Kiron is a promising actress who is just on her initial steps to stardom. Ambitious to attain the top position in the highly competitive field, Kiron makes some compromises on the personal front. She accepts the precondition of the casting couch to satisfy the physical needs of many influential bigwigs. She yields to the opportunists' quirky demands and odd tastes, thus becoming notorious for being extremely "accommodating and flexible". The actress treats this notoriety as the price she has to pay to attain celebrity-status. Aspiring to emerge as a popular actress, compliant Kiron endures all the troubles and yields to the tormentors in power without complaint.
At the same time, Kiron recognizes Hemanth's pure love for her and is willing to reciprocate it. But her terrible position prevents her from doing so. With a confidence that things will improve eventually, she hides the truth about her other life from her lover Jeeva. The hide-and-seek between Kiron and Jeeva goes on. Meanwhile, one day Hemanth introduces Kiron to his friend Jintha (Rishiraj), a local big shot and gangster. Jintha is shocked to find Kiron as his close friend's lover. For Rishiraj himself has enjoyed Kiron's sexual favours on several occasions. Without knowing how to keep this a secret from his friend, Rishiraj reveals the secret to his friend Hemanth. Unable to bear this bitter truth, Hemanth drowns his sorrow in liquor.
Distressed with the upsetting change in his friend's life and frustrated with Kiron's attitude, powerful Jintha vows to kill the actress. But suddenly, Jeeva abducts Kiron. Why? Does Rishiraj save Kiron from Jeeva or do both friends join to murder her? What is Kiron's explanation for her immoral behavior? Does Jeeva's true love matter to her? You must watch Vasool to know!
Undoubtedly, Vasool's plot is bold and differrent. The screenplay closely follows the chosen script and the characterizations. Rishiraj has done a good job, handling both direction and acting. His involvement in action sequences and emotional scenes is commendable. New hero Hemanth proves his talent in a few scenes. However, he still has a long way to go! Kiron has played her real-life personality in Vasool. As an actress who is caught in a maze of problems and as a woman aching for true love, she displays her acting skills throughout the film. Needless to say, the film gives her an opportunity to display her exclusive glamour too.
'Isayin Kadhale Kadhale' in Vijayashankar's music is a good tune. Though Vasool has many praiseworthy features, it could have been better edited. Also, families will hesitate to see this adult fare, so that valuable segment of the audience is lost.
