Vanhmam Movie review
Vanhmam starring Vijay Sethupathi, Kreshna and Sunaina in the lead, is director Jayakrishna's debut project, after a long journey of over 25 years in cinema. Produced under the Nemichand Jhabak Productions banner, this movie has music by Thaman.
The movie opens to the backdrop of Nagercoil, where Radha (Vijay Sethupathi) and Chelladurai (Kreshna) are the best of friends. Their friendship is very strong and both of them are happy-go-lucky guys who live life without much care. Sunaina is Chelladurai's lover who is constantly behind him, asking him to take life seriously and get a job. Sunaina's brother is Madhusudhan Rao (of Goli Soda fame), an angry and straightforward man who has some powerful business rivals. In a sudden turn of events, Sunaina's brother is murdered and following a verbal duel between Radha and Chelladurai, things turn ugly between them. The beautiful friendship breaks down. Radha carries a a sense of guilt while Chelladurai has hatred and vengeance burning inside him. Will the two friends reunite? What does fate have in store for the two... Watch Vanhmam to know.
Director Jayakrishna has come out with this movie after a lot of struggle. The hard work he has put in, shows. He has gotten the nativity and the life of the people from this region, absolutely perfect in each frame, including the dialogues and pronunciations. The screenplay and narration could have been better. Vijay Sethupathi has tried his hand at hardcore action for the first time and aced it too. Kreshna's character has a lot of scope to perform and he aces it hands down. Sunaina's character is bold and she has performed well. Madhusudhan Rao has also given a very neat performance and suits the character well. The rest of the cast have also done a good job. The emotions, revenge, hatred and nativity have been portrayed very well by the director. Thaman's music is also good.
Vanhmam shows how a single wrong word could end up spoiling even the best of relationships.
